Both of you women are gorgeous with your napptural styles. I've been natural for about 3 years now and I love it. My hair is really long at the top, but the back is having some issues (long story) so I usually wear it in microbraids. I'm planning to keep it that way until the back catches up with the front. My main reason for going natural was because my hair was getting too thin and breaking off from perming it. I love the look and feel of natural hair and I'm so glad I stopped using "the creamy crack", lol. My hair is so healthy and much stronger than it has ever been before.

same reason for me... th_yes-1 cant imagine perming now...
thing is, even when i permed, i had to weave and whatnot.. so why perm??

You want me to come to Mamaba Point so you can wash my hair for me...it's just a long process that I need to cut in 1/2. I tired with it now.

My own of story is the same. I've always had thick health hair (even when I was using the creamy crack). Every time I would go get my hair done all the beauticians would always compliment my hair.

Yor I don't know what went wrong this time, but my hair started falling out. I guess it was over processed and me doing my own perms didn’t help it either. I mean I would just run my fingers in my hair and my hair would just shed...come see me going crazy . I went to some beautician and paid I don't know how much money for some so called ‘treatment”...which was another chemical Rolling Eyes . I had this bald spot on the left side of my head...I had to bush the hair from the other side to cover it....just like those men lor do that are going bald Laughing . It was just HORRIBLE!!! Ask Sugar…she will tell you the crap I went through.

So I was like F-if...I ended up cutting just about all my hair off and started braiding it...at first I thought my hair won’t be strong enough to hold the braids since it was coming out, but I was wrong.

This was in 2002 and I’ve been natural ever since . I can’t see myself going back on the crack. I just press my hair if I want straight hair or get some tree braids.

See, so many stories I've heard start off the same way. I think it had a lot to do with people doing their own perms. That was what happened to me. I plan to just press it, too, if I want it straight. Braids make my hair grow fast. I hope you don't decide to cut your hair...it's beautiful.

very cute.... I used to wear my hair like that when it was much shorter, maybe one quarter of yours... but the guy didn't twist it all the way to the end. He would twist half and pull the rest through the comb... Kinda hard to explain... it always came out so nice and springy....The ends would curl up and it came out soft and bouncy.....When it dried, he rubbed a lil bit of oil thru it and scrunched it up a bit to loosen the curls.....

I was the queen of double stranded twist when my hair was ur length.... Wore it twisted for one week then unravelled it for another......Sometimes I used to look like a hot mess! lol!

Geyla, you better dont cut that hair... It looks really good.... Almost cut mine last year due to boredom... Been wearing locks for 6 yrs....Thinking about going right above my shoulder...... Never belongs to God, but I don't think I could ever go back to that crack (love the term, LIL)... Been natural and loving it since 1997....

I love this picture of me (even though it's a wig th_shhh )....I really want to color my hair...but I'm scared to..since the dye it's still a chemical and all. I heard it'll dry out your hair and break it off.

Wow, this is a very lovely pic of you G....
On the issue of coloring the hair...i reckon it's how well you treat the hair after coloring that influences the outcome. As for me, whether i color or not, i've made it a habit of deep conditioning my hair every week so i haven't really had the problem of dry nor split ends besides the normal split ends that everyone encounters which requires the compulsory trimming as part of a normal hair routine.
