"A CHILD CALLED IT" I had tears flowing down my face all through the book from start to end and it was a true story. The guy is still alive today but man he went through hell on earth in the hand of his biological mother. Thought me a few things - Forgiveness is necessary for you more than for the one that harmed you - Love can do wonders - Never underestimate what a person can do and become in life - Segregation amogst kids can be detrimental for their future, even if you love one child more than the other (which isn't right anyway) try your darnest to not show it. etc.

OMG flo this book….this book...WOW ! How could a mother be wicked to her own child? This is defiantly one of the books. The impact for me is that we all have the willpower to survive within us no matter what the situation maybe….also that you can’t let your past (no matter had bad it may have been) determine your future...I will never forget this story. _________________ The More I Know....The More I Know I Need To Know"

The Color PurpleI read this book when I was in college here in the United States in 1982. I was blown away. It totally sparked my desire to want to be a writer. Alice Walker opened my eyes to other authors like Zora Neal Hurston. I was hooked. The relationship between the two sisters, reminded me of me and my sister. It was just so awesome. I was really in an uninspired funk until I read it. Alice Walker is probably my favorite African American writer. Her poetry books are the bomb. " A poem Ran Down My Arm" is a really cool one. " Possessing The Secret of Joy" is Awesome. It is sort of a sequel to "The Color Purple". It follows the Life of Tashi,a tribal African woman who lives much of her adult life in North America. As a young woman, a misguided loyalty to the customs of her people led her to voluntarily submit to the tsunga's knife and be genitally mutilated (pharoanoically circumcised). Severely traumatized by this experience. Love, Love, Loved it. :

John Ybothy is the Author..."A graphic account of the Liberian civil war" though it is a little bias, it still made me understand why somethings happen the way they happen. "The River Between"...Nigerian author and I don't remember the name. very good story about trying to reconcile traditional beliefs and Christianity.

"Things Fall Apart" written by CA....It made me to understand how the whitemen came to Africa and try to change our culture. I like it also because it show the african resistance to such imperialism as the strong African warrior battled it out with them. My favorite line " Turning turning in the widening village, the falcon can't bear the falconer, things fell apart." "The Rise and Fall of the First Republic" written by G. Segbe Boley. I like this book because it debunk the myth of the Rice Riot of April 14, 1979. More to come.

Ok Buela (Lady Flo) and I hope this helps: The Purpose-Driven Life is that there are no accidents---God planned everything and everyone. Therefore, every human has a divine purpose, according to God's master plan. Like a twist on John F. Kennedy's famous inaugural address, this book could be summed up like this: "So my fellow Christians, ask not what God can do for your life plan, ask what your life can do for God's plan." Those who are looking for advice on finding one's calling through career choice, creative expression, or any form of self-discovery should go elsewhere. This is not about self-exploration; it is about purposeful devotion to a Christian God.
