Beyond Internal Controls & Audit: A Holistic Approach to Curbing Corruption (Commentary)

In adversity lie opportunities. In most of Liberia’s daily newspapers, corruption leads the headlines. The amplification of corruption indicates the openness of the current government, and its sincerity about tackling corruption. However, we must go beyond the call for “Internal Controls & Internal Audit” to a more “Holistic Approach to Curbing Corruption”. Both critics and supporters of this government would agreed that corruption (Fraud) is more institutionalized at the middle level management than at the top.
