|  Memorandum To The University of Liberia's New President By: Emmanuel Dolo, Ph. D.Congratulations to you! Dr. Emmett Dennis for accepting the presidency of my alma mata. That you accepted this position amidst the enormity of the challenges associated with rebuilding the University of Liberia nearly from the debris of war is a feat in itself. Your resume is impressive and that you decided to forego opportunities for retirement and other benefits in your prior job to take on this role is a mark of dedication to public service. Now, with all the niceties out of the way, here is why I am writing this article. I know that the road ahead is daunting. You must rebuild the governance systems and structures of the university; build and/or strengthen your own leadership team; develop faculty capacity; recruit, hire, and support new faculty; also evolve a retention strategy and institutionalize it; build or renovate infrastructure; improve campus-wide climate of multi-ethnic inclusion; improve teacher quality; enhance course offerings; make higher education portable and accessible to remote parts of Monrovia and its environs, if not the nation;... | Atleast we pray and hope that things improve on UL campus with his leadership. It was really frustrating there at times but amidst all the challenges, the fruits are rewarding and ain regret it. If I were to enroll in College again, I'll choose UL. |
