| Hi to everybody !
To start, it's my first time here so i want to great you all...
"My english not so good so forgive me in advance"
So : i'm sending used cars in Liberia since the end of the war. I'm just a small business-man, it's not a big enterprise. Everything was going on until this last week.
The company i'm working with (Grimaldi), a RORO company, said from now it's finished, no vessel going to Monrovia, no RORO only container. I asked them why ? they never wanted to answer.
So i contact others companies but it was the same answer : NO ! Carrying RORO vessel in Monrovia Freeport is becoming too dangerous ! Because of security problem, corruption, because the port doesn't offering internationnal standard and because of riot happened few time ago...?!
If someone can tell me what's happenning to Monrovia Freeport ? Wich riot ? wich problem ? do you think the NPA or the Governement is going to react and do something fast to make it change ? (Freeport was the first deep water port of west Africa... look at now!)
Now i can't send my cars there because the only way is by CONTAINER and it's too expensive for me. I know that there is more important things to think in the life of people of Liberia but... Let me talk true : All the money i was making, i invested all in LIBERIA. It was not too big but it was...
And when Ellen Johnson Sirleaf asking the diaspora to come back and invest in their country of origin, she better look around the 2 door of entry (Freeport and RIA) if everything is correct. Nothing is correct !
Sorry but 5 years after the end of the war the citizens, the diaspora, the foreigners, the investors and the local market are still suffering from the bureaucracie.
Now i think i'm going to turn to San pedro in Ivory Coast but all the custom fees going inside the pocket of Ivorian Custom and not Liberian. After it will be easy for me to cross the border and sell my things in Liberia to the black market. Free of Duty !!!
Before doing that i really hope for the things to change in Freeport because my adoption's country is LIB and no other !
Thanks for reading, i great you all. And if somebody can answer me i will be happy because i don't know what's happenning there. Bye. |

Yeah it's true i have to take it easy and be patient... Anyway i'm not playing my life on this business. But you know, i really want everything to go fast because i like your country so much, it make me crazy when i see everything spoiled like that.
And some people there are depending on me, i can feel bad about it. I'm gonna wait for 6 months to see if things change to the port. Thank you. |
