| The urge was there, I could taste it in my mouth,
But did not know how to proceed.
It was like an feral call, like you are being called;
in the middle of the night.
She was older, far older. She cooked and cared;
She knew it and knew that it was time.
It was almost every night after the first time.
Ease out of bed, tippy toe easily, and slide in next to her.
And then she would guide me, and it got better and better.
The first time, I got nowhere, the excitement was just too great.
But as I worked on it, I got better and better,
until finally I learned how to peddle myself to school on my new bike my mother bought.
