New York -

BET’s 106&Park is welcoming the previous winners of its popular Wild Out Wednesday tonight and one of Liberia’s rising musical sensation, Chris Deshield hopes to emerge the winner.

“It puts me in a whole new league,” says DeShield, who won earlier this year, setting himself up for tonight’s showdown with other previous winners.

DeShield says since winning his previous 106 and Park battle in January, a lot of doors have been opened for him. “It has also helped make me famous in Liberia. People are definitely more aware of me over there since I won.”

In January, DeShield, who resides in Virginia edged out Esty of Poughkeepsie, New York and Lamar Robinson of Salisbury, Maryland to earn a ticket for tonight’s showdown.

DeShield performed his hit single “Blame it on the Drink” and won praise from the show’s host Roxy and Terrence.

DeShield not only does his music emanate a soulful sound, he is a gifted songwriter who expresses his passion for life and love through charming reality-based lyrics and vocal arrangements.

DeShield has shared the same stage with B2K, Snoop Dogg, One Chance, Omarion, Keisha Cole, IMX, Raheem DeVaughn, Shareefa, and the Disturbing Tha Peace Family, Marques Houston, Avant, MC Lyte, Dru Hill, Jesse Powell and more.

DeShield was the winner of the 2006 “Almost Famous Showcase”in Atlanta, GA, an event sponsored by The Alantis Music Conference and Verseus Entertainment Group. Chris DeShieldmade national news most recently when he performed at the 25thAnnual Unifest Festival in Washington, DC, however, the event was interrupted by a unfortunate incident when a woman drove her vehicle into the crowd. The incident inspired him to write a song entitled “Gift of Song” and he was featured in The Afro-American and Washington Informer Newspapers.

Born to Liberian parents in a musically inclined family (his brother, Cyrus DeShield, sings with Metro City), Chris DeShield can play the piano and always knew he wanted to be a singer. This multitalented singer has penned songs for Jennifer Hudson and written with Mario. He has opened up for Snoop Dog, B2K, MC Lyte, and Jesse Powell, to name a few, and has even had a cameo as the boyfriend of the woman that played Eddie Murphy’s wife in the movie, ‘Dreamgirls‘.

To vote for Chris DeShield, go to BET and click on Wild Out Wednesday (on August 13, 2008). DeShield is also up for the Liberian Image Award which takes place on August 30, 2008.
