PostSubject: Update from Germany   Thu May 15, 2008 9:02 pm

So,here the latest developments from Germany....

On Monday, the first official day of our camp,we had only one(!) player here on board, which was Ben Teekloh. You might remember, that I have said, who is not here by Monday will be removed. This would be difficult, cause we had to remove everybody....
On Tuesday we had the honor to welcom the 2 and 3 player in Kelvin Sebwe and Patrick Gerhard.
Now,Thursday morning, this is still the situation. We have 3 players in camp, the delegation from Liberia is not prepared to come due to visa complications.
Regarding the other european based players,I have received calls from coaches,Teammanagers, presidents, uncles, grannys and so on with all kinds of explainations and excuses why they could not make it in time.
We tried to give the Lone Star the best possible environment for preparation for the so important month of June.Unfortunately it looks like personal interest counts more than the Lone Star.

I do not know what is going to happen next, but I seriously fear that if the attitude of all involved does not change immediately, the chances of qualification are lower than ever before.

Regarding Prince Daye it is very simple,if a player shows interest to come and help us out,I am happy to welcome him.It is better to train with 4 players instead of 3.

Yours

A.Hey

Lone Star Germany camp cancelled

Posted May 17, 2008

Liberian football authorities have canceled training camp scheduled for the German town of Leipzig. The cancellation was due to the German Consular’s refusal to grant visas to majority of the local players. The camp, sponsored by the German government, was the Lone Star’s for the upcoming Angola 2010 and South African 2010 qualification campaigns. The players affected are Melvin King, Murphy Nagbe, James Lomell, Isiah Benson, George Baysah and Stephen Mennoh. Unconfirmed reports attributed the denial to questions surrounding the players age.

The camp was slated for May 12th through the 24th. According to the camp itinerary the national team had scheduled test matches against Bundesliga side, Hertha Berlin, Energie Cuttbus and Carl Zeiss Jena respectively.

Shortly after announcing the list of players for the camp Coach Hey sounded a strong warning “If a player is not in camp by Monday May 12th, they will be replaced unless he is excused like Oliver Makor and Dioh Williams. We have no time to waste. It would be sad but I am not waiting for anybody. “ To date only tree foreign based players have reported to camp. Those currently in

The lone Star team

camp are Ben Teekloh of Farlus Constanta, Patrick Gehardt of SR Delemot and Kevin Sebwe of FC Kavala.

Meanwhile, the team will depart Monrovia tomorrow for the Moroccan capital Casablanca. Coach Hey and the European based players currently in camp, will meet the rest of the team and commence weekly training. They will then face the national team of Morocco on May 26th in their final tune up before facing Gambia in the group qualifier.

RunningAfrica.com will keep you posted with the latest developments!!!
