| Is the ulcer in the digestive tract? Where exactly? the stomach? Or are you asking about skin or foot ulcers............ But let me stop here and ask: what did his doctor say to him when he was diagnosed?

| | I assume he has had his gastro tract looked at by doctors. If he's in that much pain and its related to ulcers, he may need surgery. No need to play around any longer. |

| His doctor should give him antibiotics (if he has tested positive for the bacteria that causes ulcer). He should stick to bland foods, no tomatoes, no fried foods, no pickled foods, no beer, no fizzy drinks, no alcohol, no spice of any kind, no sleeping right after eating, no hot beverage, no citric fruits.......................

| Okay, let me tell my experiences here from when I worked in the Tropics. So, I have to ask some questions. Is this person taking or have been taking alot of antibiotics? If so, then that could also be the cause since terramycin and ampicillin will kill off the flora in your duodenum and cause an imbalance that resembles ulcer. Another more terrible form is gastritis, which is caused by stomach juices flowing over the red exposed lining of the stomach. This red area again is caused by ingesting of too much asprin, antibiotics, alcohol abuse, stress, or bile reflux. To stop this, take all funny medications away from this person. The UN prescribed Prilosec at the time, I don't know what is prescribed now. Lastly, if it is as severe as you make it out to sound, it may be stomach cancer. Le us all say a prayer for him. My grandmother died from that. |

| Philomath told me that you all were discussing this here. I have been in bed since yesterday morning with this very same issue. It's extremely painful and I ended up vomiting more than 20 times. The doctor thinks it's a severe case of acid reflux and possibly an ulcer. I tried Maalox before I went to the Dr. and it did not help at all. In the end, I was given a prescription for Nexium (for the acid reflux...this immediately helped with the pain) and she aslo gave me a prescription for Promethazine (for the nausea). She also told me to eat bland, non-irritating foods. This thread was helpful to me and I have now started my own little list of DO NOT eat foods vs EAT foods. My dad died of cancer from this same problem so I'm pretty scared. Anyway, I have an abdominal ultrasound tomorrow because she wanted to check for other things. |
